On The Scene with Leslie Davis
This is the first show of its kind in Central California. It’s a news and information program devoted exclusively to entertainment and the arts. Leslie Davis, a long time radio, television, and concert promoter, anchors the show and brings her 30 years of experience to N2NewsNet and all who follow us on the web and social media.
On The Scene will cover the Central California concert scene with interviews with performers and those behind the scenes who make things happen. The show will also update us on recent events and upcoming shows, some little and some huge. We will cover them all.
Episode 2 Synopsis
A lot has been happening in entertainment and the arts and Leslie gives us the latest. It’s been a big couple of months with Neil Young, LitHop, and, of course ArtHop being just a part of the Valley has been treated too. Leslie takes an in-depth look at one of the most popular venues in Fresno – Gazebo Gardens. Who would have thought that a nursery would become one of the hottest entertainment spots in the region! Leslie also interviews blues musician John Clifton. This guys is full of surprises with a new CD, an international tour, and a part in a movie.
About Leslie Davis
Leslie Davis has been working in the broadcasting industry for 30 years with a combination of radio and television experience, and has produced over 100 concerts in central California with legendary performers such as George Benson, Al Jarreau, and Boz Scaggs. She is the creator of four annual outdoor festivals including the Coombs Riverbend Jazz Festival, Chinatown Jazz Festival, Storyland & Jazz, and Tower’s Tavern on the Green. She is an awarding winning radio and TV commercial writer, producer and fundraising executive, and previously served as the host of “Diamonds After Dark” on Jewel FM 99.3
When she isn’t working on “On the Scene,” she heads up her own production company. Episode 1 Synopsis
In the first episode, we see highlights of the recent Trashique fashion show, a major bi-annual fundraiser for the Fresno Art Museum, and talk a little about this year’s Rogue Festival. And we have an in-depth interview with Omar Naré and his wife Jasmin La Caris an accomplished dancer who performs with Omar. Naré is the leading pioneer of a new music genre called “nuevo mariachi,” that brings a modern feel to a traditional Mexican music staple. This interview is interesting to not only the patron but to young performers who want to be serious about their dream career.
